Foster or Adopt - we are currently paying fosters to take Gizelle out of boarding My name is Gizelle. I am young and healthy and mostly quiet and stoic. I seldom bark except at those rotten squirrels in the tree teasing me and some strange dogs. I was found wandering down the bayou behind my foster home looking for someone to give my loyalty and devotion to. I absolutely love water, when I see a hose, I run, jump, and twirl chasing the water coming out. I can jump 5 feet easily to get to the water. I can also clear a 6' fence, so should never be left unattended in the backyard. I would probably be safest in an apartment environment so I ... (Read More)don't have the opportunity to go exploring. I do come back but love to go see what is going on around the neighborhood. Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Roxy was adopted as a small puppy by a family that didn't have time for her. She was tied up in the back yard and left to entertain herself. Poor nutrition led to a terrible case of demodex mange. Poor baby Roxy lost all of her hair. She came to AARF Houston just in time. She was given a nutrious diet, lots of love and proper medication for her condition. Roxy is now a young lady with a full coat of beautiful Brown and white hair. Roxy loves all of her foster brothers and sisters and plays well with even our 6 week old foster. She loves to run, loves her walks and especially her car rides. She tolerates being in a crate when ... (Read More)necessary, but would prefer being by your side doing what ever important task you are doing. Roxy can be an only dog, although she would prefer having a friend to keep her company while you are at work. Roxy has a genetic problem with her back legs. She has just undergone Bi-lateral FHO surgery, which means her hip bones never fit in the Pelvis joint. She is recovering from sugery and getting stronger every day. As soon as she is strong and her muscles strong enough to hold her, Roxy will undergo another surgery to fix her knees. She is a great dog, and is doing well with Physical Therapy. There is no reason to doubt that once she has the next surgery she won't be as good as any other dog. She deserves a great home - is it with you? (Less)
